What it means to work for MFES

At the City of Mississauga, you’ll work alongside talented and motivated people. Mississauga is Canada’s seventh largest municipality and is proud to be a growing and accomplished municipality that nurtures its multicultural community and rich heritage. Our workforce is diverse and inclusive, boasts of a generous employee benefits package and offers growth and development opportunities to all its employees.

MFES strives to provide for the safety and wellness of all those who live, work and visit Mississauga. MFES delivers outstanding services with a dedication and commitment that makes this city vibrant each and every day. With more than 750 staff working across our four sections, we serve the community around the clock to make Mississauga a safe place for everyone.

MFES is striving to acknowledge and address systemic barriers for women and other equity deserving groups. Through more inclusive recruitment efforts, our goal is to build a workforce that closely reflects the community we serve.

A big part of the job is medical response. Having a paramedic background has helped me tremendously on the job. Not only on the trucks and providing patient care, but here in Mississauga I’ve been able to use my skills and training to become a shift training instructor. This allows me to provide training to recruits, on-shift crews and when there are new medical programs, I’m involved in the process. That’s one of the great things about MFES – if you have a background in a different field, there are ways to use it within the department.
