Background
As the City of Mississauga continues to grow, the need for essential services continues to rise. Station 125 is a priority project because it will help serve a high growth area identified in the City’s Shaping Ninth Line future growth plans.
The construction of Station 125 is also connected to a City-wide plan to build six new fire stations over the next 12 years to optimize emergency response times. Station 125 and other stations across Mississauga will further improve response times to meet the goal of first truck response in four minutes or less, 75% of the time.
Station 125 was designed with an environmentally responsible approach, achieves net zero energy, and meets the City’s Corporate Green Building Standard.
Once completed, Station 125 will be the City’s twenty-second fire station.

The area around Tenth Line and Aquitaine Avenue has been identified as a high growth area in the City’s Shaping Ninth Line plans. With future planned growth expected to impact essential service levels, the new fire station will help meet the needs of surrounding neighbourhoods.
The City of Mississauga has secured the land to build the new fire station and is working to hire a contractor for this project.
Project timelines are tentatively planned as follows:
- 2021/22 – Architect design, planning and construction permits
- 2023 to 2024 – Construction
- 2024 – Grand opening

The construction of the new fire station will have minimal impact on the local community.
During construction, there will be some periods of increased traffic accessing and exiting the site.
The construction site will be completely fenced off and made inaccessible to the public. Community safety will remain a priority throughout the construction phase. All required safety precautions will be in place.
The leash-free zone at Union Park will be relocated to allow for the construction of the approved fire station.
The City is negotiating a land lease agreement for the vacant property immediately north of the park. The relocation of the leash-free zone to the north side of Union Park will be completed before construction of the station begins in late 2022.
Yes. The play areas throughout Union Park and facilities, including the leash-free zone, will remain open.
Due to construction at this location, there will be some limits to access for the public, but the park will be fenced off and will remain safe to use.
A net zero energy building combines energy efficiency and renewable energy generation to consume only as much energy as can be produced onsite through renewable sources over a year.
