In progress City project

New cricket field at Saigon Park

The cricket field at Saigon Park will provide residents in the surrounding area with a new dedicated space to play cricket.

Overview

The City is expanding Saigon Park to provide residents with a dedicated facility to play cricket. The City chose to build the cricket field in Saigon Park because of its size and location. It also helps meet the growing need for a cricket field in the area.

The cricket field will have these features:

  • 3 natural wickets
  • 1 artificial turf wicket
  • Sports field lighting
  • Cricket batting cage
  • Field irrigation system
  • Batter’s eye screens
  • Player benches
  • Fencing around the perimeter
  • Washroom building
  • Parking lot
  • Accessible trail connections

Benefits to the community

A new cricket field will provide more recreational opportunities for nearby communities by reducing competition for existing baseball and soccer fields, freeing them up for wider use.

This will be the tenth cricket field in the city and will offer closer access to Mississauga Valley residents who have had to travel farther to use other cricket fields.

Project status

The design for the cricket field is currently in progress. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2025

The City completed public engagement activities on November 8, 2024. Postcards and on-site signs detailing proposed improvements were sent to residents in the surrounding areas.
