Mobile business licensing

If your business operates outdoors, such as an ice cream truck, food truck, refreshment vehicle, refreshment cart or cycle, or driving school, it’s considered a mobile business.

Vehicles used by the general public, like taxicabs and limousines, are also considered mobile businesses. There are different licence requirements for owners and drivers.

Apply for a mobile business licence

You must apply for or renew most mobile business licences in person. Only some driver’s licences are available online.

Completing an application may not guarantee a licence. Vehicle inspections or site inspections may also be required.

Apply online

The following types of driver’s licences are available online:

To renew your driver’s licence online, log in or register for an online account. If you applied for your licence in person, import your licence to renew it online.

Apply in person

To avoid waiting in line, schedule an appointment to apply or renew in person. During your appointment, you’ll submit your documents at our office, located on the ground floor at 3235 Mavis Road.

If you’re late by 10 minutes or more, your appointment will be cancelled and you’ll need to reschedule.
