UPDATE: Hurontario-Dundas Street Incident

As of 11 a.m. today (February 13), the investigation continues by the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal, with support from Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and Peel Regional Police into the cause of an explosion that damaged a commercial plaza at 3066 Hurontario St.

Access and Closures:
• Hurontario Street from Dundas Street to Hillcrest Avenue remains closed to vehicle traffic in both directions
• There is no pedestrian access on Hurontario, both sides, from Agnes Street to Hillcrest Avenue
• TL Kennedy Secondary School remains closed on Tuesday, February 13, to all staff and students, as Peel District School Board staff continue to work with the Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and external contractors to ensure the building and surrounding area is safe for staff and students to return. The school is set to reopen on Wednesday, February 14
• Pedestrians can access businesses at 3024 Hurontario St., 3025 Hurontario St. and 5 Dundas St. W.
• Cooksville Library at 3024 Hurontario St. will be open regular hours

“The City’s Office of Emergency Management is contacting those directly impacted by this incident on a daily basis,” said Mississauga Fire Chief Tim Beckett. “Our focus is safety first. We are working with our City staff, community partners, the Region of Peel Human Services and the Red Cross, Enbridge and Peel Regional Police to remedy the area as quickly as possible.”

Peel Regional Police are asking anyone with information or dash cam video regarding this incident to contact investigators at 12 Division at 905-453-2121, ext.1233.
