If you’re planning to build a new home or an addition, your proposal will need to adhere to the zoning regulations for your zone. Typically, these regulations identify:
- What type of dwelling is permitted
- How far you need to be from property lines
- How much of your lot you can cover
- How tall your proposal can be
- Maximum floor area
Depending on your zone, there may be additional regulations.
There are also general provisions that may apply to your proposal. Check Part 4 of the Zoning By-law.
You can find your zoning designation and regulations using the find property information tool.
Zoning staff will confirm that your proposal meets the zoning regulations when you submit your building permit application.
