Sheridan College – Hazel McCallion Campus

The City of Mississauga and Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (Sheridan) have partnered to build the Hazel McCallion Campus.

A Successful Partnership: Bringing Business Education and Skill Development Opportunities to our Downtown.

The City of Mississauga and Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (Sheridan) have launched one of the most exciting initiatives to take place in the City of Mississauga.

Through a unique and innovative partnership, the City and Sheridan have constructed a new campus, named the Hazel McCallion Campus, and community park which will help transform Mississauga’s downtown into a vibrant centre and connected community. Here youth, new Canadians and businesses will learn, experience and invest in the people and assets that contribute to the quality of life and success of our citizens and business community.

In just six short months after launching the City’s new Strategic Plan, Mississauga Council approved the purchase of 3.46 ha (8.55 ac) of land and a Lease Agreement that together have made the new campus a reality and will deliver on a number of the City’s strategic goals.

Sheridan’s Hazel McCallion Campus is a state-of-the-art, post secondary institution. Phase I was officially opened in November 2011, and now accommodates over 1,700 full time students. The primary focus will be on business programs, with several hundred spaces reserved for programs and services designed to assist new Canadians and unemployed workers transition into the workforce or prepare for new career opportunities.

Innovation and partnership extends to the design and construction of the community park (Scholars’ Green), street (Square One Drive) and City parking facilities that combine to make the campus a safe and walkable green space open for the public and students to enjoy.
