Overview
Hatch completed a number of thematic workshops built around the future Economic Development Strategy’s focus.
Participants included community and business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and academics to provide insights into Mississauga’s current economic state, and what aspirations the City can strive for to build a strong and sustainable economy.
The level of engagement and valued insights were well received, and helped to validate the themes already shaping the strategy. Four key themes were discussed:
- Business
- Places
- Infrastructure
- People
The structured, interactive sessions asked participants their views on a number of factors and barriers to Mississauga as a place to do business, work, live and learn and what is holding back attracting and retaining more people.
Phase 4 of our project timeline kicked off with an online survey that sought public input from the community to shape EDO’s priorities for the next five years. It was important to collect feedback on our economic priorities and business sectors to identify points of weakness and strength in our strategy so far.
During the last phase of the project, the strategy was presented to General Committee on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.
The Strategy was then approved by Council on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
