Want to give fishing a try? It doesn’t get any “betta” than Family Fishing Week to get outdoors and enjoy fishing in Mississauga. If you’re new to fishing or want to enjoy some family fun, join us for the Family Fishing Day event at Lake Aquitaine on Sunday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn safe and sustainable fishing techniques from angling experts and try to land one of our native species of fish right from the dock! Participants will also learn how to protect our water resources and how pollution in our stormwater can impact our use and enjoyment of Mississauga’s water resources, including opportunities for urban fishing.
Enjoy some fishing fun with the whole family and learn about the stormwater management pond known as Lake Aquitaine. Experts will be available onsite to answer questions about fishing, wildlife conservation and water pollution. A limited number of fishing rods will be available to borrow.
Mississauga residents of all ages, families and anyone interested in learning more about fishing and preventing water pollution in Mississauga. No fishing experience is needed.

Stormwater is the rain and melted snow flowing from your property and roads that drains into streets, ditches, storm drains, local creeks and the Credit River into Lake Ontario. Stormwater drains to the natural environment. Preventing pollution from contaminating stormwater protects plants, fish and other animals downstream and also our critical drinking water supply from Lake Ontario.
Here are some ways you can help prevent contaminated water from entering the City’s stormwater system:
