Background

Mississauga is experiencing a rise in type 2 diabetes cases. To combat this, the City, along with partners and experts, are developing a strategy to prevent further cases.

Mississauga’s Diabetes Strategy will focus on risk reduction by improving daily living and promoting physical activity through active transportation. By creating healthy communities that are compact, pedestrian-friendly and transit-supportive, Mississauga residents will have access to more healthy choices.

The strategy will inform community services and programming to support active living and education for diabetes prevention. Through community engagement, the City will determine the most effective interventions for the strategy.
