South Common Community Centre and Library are closing on June 17th for redevelopment.

The City of Mississauga takes pride in maintaining beautiful and inviting spaces, where people of all ages come to spend quality time together. Occasionally, our facilities need to close to ensure City facilities remain up-to-date and include features that respond and support community needs. While closed, residents can continue to enjoy their programs and activities at neighbouring facilities.
Residents should be aware that the following recreation facilities will be temporarily closed for renovations and upgrades:
South Common Community Centre – The community centre and library are closing on June 17th for redevelopment until 2027. Additional closure details will be shared with residents and the public over the next few months.
Iceland Arena – Iceland will be closed for major lifecycle, aesthetic and accessibility improvements. Rinks 1 and 3 will reopen for rentals and programming in September 2024.
Paramount Fine Foods Centre – Main Spectator Arena (Rink 1) is closing for renovations and facility enhancements until November 2024.
Construction to build a new double gymnasium at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, Sportsplex facility is underway. The gymnasium will be the primary practice court for the Raptors905 G League franchise and increase community access to gymnasium space. The Sportsplex facility will remain open throughout the project. The gymnasium is anticipated to open in spring 2026. This addition is made possible by a partnership with the Raptors 905/Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE).
Burnhamthorpe Community Centre – now open

Hazel McCallion Central Library – now open
The Hazel McCallion Central Library is more than a library. It’s a dedicated space designed for diverse interests, passions and convenience. With unique spaces for both children and adults, there are opportunities for community learning and engagement throughout the entire library.
Malton Youth Hub (Jonathan Davis Centre) – now open
All youth are invited to make the most of a teaching kitchen, music recording studio/multi-media space, a drop-in room, atrium that can be used as a pop-up stage, small rooms in support of spirituality and counselling and a multi-purpose room for meetings, events and classes.
Paul Coffey Arena – now open
You can now book floor rentals and meeting rooms. Ice season will resume in September 2024.
