PauTheRebel is one of the current Resident Artists participating in the City of Mississauga’s Resident Artist Program at the Living Arts Centre.

About the artist

PauTheRebel (she/they) is a Brazilian-Canadian interdisciplinary artist residing in Oakville, Ontario and is based in Hamilton, Ontario. Their practice fluctuates within diverse themes, with mediums consisting of drawings, illustrations, pattern-making, mixed media, video and animations. Whilst currently in their exploration phase, she explores the materiality of each of the medias she experiments with in attempt to build new forms of visual narratives.

They are interested in investigating more on matters that correlate within diaspora, memory, & neurodiversity; alongside with using characters & texts that interact with them. PauTheRebel has received an Honours BFA in Studio Art at McMaster University in 2022, and is the recipient of the 2022 Ignition Award from Hamilton Artists’ Inc., and also the 2022 SUMMA People’s Choice Award from McMaster University.
