In 2006, the Museums of Mississauga saved a collection of images from the corporate history of Mississauga, mainly taken by long-time City employee Kirk French. The collection includes more than 6,000 photographs ranging from community centre openings, staff awards, to bus driver uniforms!
The collection mainly dates from the 1980s to the 1990s. The collection illustrates the growth of the City of Mississauga, within the context of a constantly evolving municipality.
The City honours the memory of Kirk French through the ‘Kirk French Spirit Award’, recognizing a City employee for their positive and supportive attitude.
