Scrap metal
Meadowvale Library, 6655 Glen Erin Drive
The artwork depicts the fish of Lake Aquitaine, linking the Meadowvale Library building with the landscape around it. By repurposing scrap metal parts into dynamic and lifelike sculptures, the artist captures a pleasing contrast between the natural world and the rigid and cold nature of metal as his medium.
Kam Shing Ko (1948-2020) was an entrepreneur, engineer, welder, and multi-disciplinary artist. He often saw potential in scrap metal parts, which he transformed into beautiful sculptures. His metal work encompassed the natural world in owls, life-sized deer, and fish. In later life, Kam expanded his artistic practice into wood sculpture, photography, and paint.
