“Cantilevering, simplicity, and weightlessness are recurring visual aesthetics in my work. The idea of suspending or elevating a heavy-looking object in a delicate manner is intriguing to me. I try to use the most minimal parts possible so that I can to create a rather simple style, based on a concept and followed through from beginning to end. By understanding the strengths found in selected materials such as wood, metal, concrete, and bent laminations, I have been able to generate forms that appear thin and vulnerable.” – Matthew Agostinis
