Leaving Home
- Bradley Museum, Anchorage Gallery from August 10 to September 10.
- Curated by Maysoon Sheikh, Leaving Home features stories of migration and what it means to leave home.
- Learn about the experiences shared by all communities and reflect on your own history by writing a letter back home or mapping your journey of leaving home
Generation X Marks the Spot
- Bradley Museum, Anchorage Gallery Hallways — coming in 2024.
- Curated by Dayo Kefentse, Generation X Marks the Spot showcases a timeline of events and authentic media clippings from 1988, wherein a local shooting involving a Black teen spurred youths in the Black Action Defense Committee to investigate police training, policies and attitudes towards visible minorities. Learn more about the actions that were inspired as a results of the incident.
No Place
- Bradley Museum, Anchorage Gallery from September 21 to December 18.
- Curated by Arezu Salamzadeh, No Place relates to what it means to desire proximity to a place and identity outside one’s own, and to bridges notions of identity, place, and desire.
- For this installation, these themes will be explored through the landscapes and myths of the American Southwest, featuring custom sculptures of saloon doors, horses, and more.
- Get excited for a three-part drag karaoke series from October to December, led by Arezu’s drag persona Rolls Rice.
Panel discussion
Dreamland
- Small Arms Inspection Building on August 31 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
- Curated by Hibah Mian, Dreamland poses the question: “Is it possible to exist in two places at one time?” which illustrates new ways to understand the passage of one space to another, the move from a home to a house, while learning stories of trauma and transformation.
