MakerFest is back on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 with new and returning interactive programs that will get you and your family excited about science and technology! This online event is hosted by Mississauga Library, Brampton Library and Caledon Public Library to provide even more access to activities, experts and resources. MakerFest is the perfect opportunity to learn about your library’s maker programs and meet others in the community.
The MakerFest activities explore a variety of topics including 3D design, fabrication, assistive technology, space exploration, entrepreneurship, coding and more. The interactive activities involve live demonstrations and opportunities to ask questions, learn from experts and connect virtually with others. No prior maker experience is needed to participate.
Free, online maker and STEAM activities, presented by Mississauga Library, Brampton Library and Caledon Public Library.
All MakerFest activities are free with registration. Participants do not need a library card from Mississauga Library, Brampton Library or Caledon Public Library to register.

Saturday, May 14 | 10 to 11 a.m. | STEM with Let’s Talk Science UTM: Exploration Mars | Learn about space exploration, different types of space probes and scientists at the Canadian Space Agency from Let’s Talk Science UTM. (Ages six to 12) |
11 a.m. to noon | Satellite Design Challenge with Indus Space | Indus Space invites kids to join an interactive satellite design challenge using household items, such as recycled materials. (Ages six to 12) | |
2 to 3 p.m. | Pixel Art with the Raspberry Pi SenseHAT | Learn how to create pixel art with python code and a virtual Raspberry Pi SenseHAT. (Ages 12 and up) | |
2 to 4 p.m. | Virtual Repair Café with Fixit Clinic | Join Fixit Clinic and learn from local fixers and coaches from around the globe about how to repair your broken items at home. (Ages 13 and up) | |

The library offers a variety of free, online programs through Maker Mississauga to help residents of all ages develop their STEAM skills, including Lego Club, tween and teen robotics clubs, Knit & Crochet Circle and more. This spring, residents can also attend a Makerspace Open House to learn about the maker equipment and technology available at Burnhamthorpe Library, Meadowvale Library and Courtneypark Library.
