Announced at Budget Committee on April 28, the City of Mississauga’s Finance Division has won an award recognizing excellence in financial reporting – the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the 23rd consecutive year for its 2019 Financial Report .
“As a City, we are pleased to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to excellence in financial reporting. The City’s Finance team is a dedicated group of individuals who continually commit to following the best practices in financial management and financial stewardship, while providing reliable services to our residents,” said Gary Kent, Commissioner of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. “Over the past two decades, the City has been recognized for its commitment to sound fiscal management and transparency. This is largely due to the collaboration between City Council and our teams across the corporation, led by Finance.
Mississauga continues to be the longest-running municipality in Ontario to achieve this honour. The City has been recognized for presenting financial information in a clear, concise, innovative and informative manner. The GFOA award is given to municipalities who have met the highest standards of government budgeting and financial reporting.
