Mississauga City Council directs further consultation on by-law to prohibit certain forms of protest near places of worship

Mississauga City Council approved a staff recommendation to explore the feasibility of implementing a by-law that prohibits demonstrations within 100 metres, or a reasonable distance, of places of worship.

Key points of the resolution

1. The resolution directs City of Mississauga staff to research and consult with experts on the feasibility of such a by-law.
2. Public consultations will be scheduled to gather input on the proposed by-law.
3. Legal Services will report back to Council with findings and, if necessary, a draft by-law to address violent protests near places of worship.

Mississauga City Council updates heritage designation by-law

Mississauga City Council approved a staff recommendation to amend the Heritage Advisory Committee Recommendation HAC-0071-2024. This amendment updates the legal description of the heritage designation By-law 368-82 for the property at 5155 Mississauga Road (Ward 11).

Key points of the recommendation

1. The amendment corrects the reference from By-law 362-82 to By-law 368-82.
2. The legal description of the property is updated to reflect the revised property boundary as per the 2024 subdivision.
3. All necessary by-laws will be enacted to formalize this update.
