COVID-19 | March 16, 2020
At the direction of public health officials and the Ontario Court of Justice, to aid efforts in reducing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the community, Provincial Offences Act court matters to be heard by a Justice of the Peace, scheduled at the City’s court house from Monday, March 16 through to Friday, April 3 will be adjourned and rescheduled.
Parties and witnesses do not need to attend court for the adjournment. A notice of the new court date will be sent by mail to the address on file with the court.
In addition, the timeframe to pay fines has been extended for three weeks however, the options to pay, including online, by phone or in person remain available.
Screening and hearing matters are adjourned and parties do not need to attend their screening or hearing dates.
Screening or hearing appointments that are scheduled between the dates of March 16 to April 3, 2020 will be adjourned to another date after April 3, 2020. The new appointment date will be sent in the mail. If you have not received your new appointment date within 2 weeks please contact the court house 950 Burnhamthorpe Road West, 905-615-4500.
Matters related to the Administrative Penalty System related to by-law infractions such as parking ticket reviews will continue however, if unable to attend due to self-isolation, please contact the courthouse to reschedule.
With guidance from Peel Public Health and in an abundance of caution for both our residents and staff around the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Mississauga has also closed all City recreation, library and cultural facilities until April 5.
