Everything you need to know about holiday parking in Mississauga

Exploring all that Mississauga has to offer over the holidays? We’ve got some parking pointers to make your errands and outings less stressful. If you aren’t using public transportation or a car share service this winter, you may wonder where and when to park in Mississauga during one of the busiest times of the year. Here’s what you should know before heading out this holiday season.

Free parking in Port Credit and Clarkson

To help make holiday shopping and visiting with friends more convenient, drivers can park for free in the Port Credit and Clarkson area until Monday, January 15. All of the Pay and Display machines are bagged accordingly so you don’t have to do anything except park your vehicle and enjoy all of the fantastic shops and restaurants that Port Credit and Clarkson have to offer.

Extended parking on statutory holidays

On-street parking on statutory holidays such as Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day is allowed beyond the five-hour limit between 8 a.m. and midnight, so you can spend all day enjoying the company of your loved ones without thinking about parking!

Having guests over?

‘Tis the season for get-togethers with friends and family, so make sure you’re up to speed on where and when your guests can park if they stay longer than five hours.

For temporary (or short-term) parking, Mississauga residents can request a temporary parking permit which allows parking on the unsigned portion of a residential street longer than the standard five hours and during the prohibited period between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Each residential address can use a maximum of 14 parking permits per calendar year for five vehicles for five days.

Here’s how you can request a temporary parking permit for your guests:

• Online: Visit the Temporary Parking Permit webpage on the City of Mississauga’s website and complete the online form.
• Call 311: You can call the City’s Citizen Contact Centre by dialling 311 or 905-615-4311 (outside of City limits) from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to request a temporary parking permit.

Temporary permits are not valid on private property or where prohibited parking signs are posted. They can be suspended or cancelled at any time during a snow event so crews can clear our roads safely.
