The City of Mississauga will join the global community on Friday, March 8 to recognize International Women’s Day with events aimed at raising awareness about equality and celebrating women and their invaluable contributions.
“International Women’s Day is a reminder to celebrate the incredible impact that women have had in shaping and building our city,” said Shari Lichterman, City Manager and CAO. “Let’s inspire inclusion, not just today, but every day, as we recognize the immense contributions of our strong female leaders. I want to thank all of the women in Mississauga – City staff, Council members, community leaders and residents, past and present – who have helped make our city a place where women thrive and communities are enriched.”
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Inspire Inclusion and to commemorate the day and its importance, the City of Mississauga is lighting the Civic Centre clock tower purple on March 8. Additionally, the community is invited learn more and mark this important day by participating in a community event or celebration, musical performance or sporting event.
