On November 11, the City of Mississauga will host an in-person ceremony at the Mississauga Civic Centre Community Memorial. City officials and other dignitaries will be in attendance to honour Canada’s veterans. Members of the public may attend the Remembrance Day ceremony or watch the event online.
The sacrifices made by countless members of the Canadian Forces throughout its storied history will be remembered and honoured with a moment of silence and the laying of wreaths.

Veterans Ride MiWay for Free on Remembrance Day
Canadian Forces veterans and their companion can ride MiWay for free on Remembrance Day, Thursday, November 11.
Veterans should wear items such as uniforms, medals or carry items that identify them as veterans to transit operators.
As a mark of respect to Canadian veterans, all transit operators will stop their buses for two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. on November 11.
Celebrating 100 Years of the Poppy
Canadian John McCrae’s iconic 1915 poem, In Flanders Fields, has inspired the use of remembrance poppies by nations around the world to commemorate the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Canada officially adopting the remembrance poppy as the symbol for Canada’s observance of Remembrance Day.

On November 10 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., join Museums of Mississauga and Mississauga Library for an interactive conversation exploring stories, photographs and artifacts belonging to Mississauga residents who participated in both World Wars.
