City services | October 8, 2024

Starting Monday, October 28, several updates will be implemented to MiWay, helping deliver on the MiWay 5 service plan benefits.

Route 51 Tomken expansion

The service will now extend north on Tomken Road, reaching Bramalea GO Station, specifically at Platform 12 (stop #6029). This extension aims to enhance connectivity to Brampton, facilitating access to Brampton Transit and GO Transit, alongside improving access to employment opportunities along Tomken Road. The extended route will run on weekdays and Saturdays, offering a peak service frequency of 14 minutes during morning hours and 27 minutes midday on weekdays, and a 50-minute frequency on Saturdays.

Enhanced Sunday service for Route 61 Mavis

Responding to the high demand, the Route 61 Mavis will now offer more frequent services on Sundays, with buses running every 15 minutes midday and every 23 minutes late evening post-10 pm. This adjustment marks a significant improvement from the previous 18-minute and 43-minute intervals, respectively.

Platform adjustments at City Centre Transit Terminal

To alleviate congestion and enhance safety, Route 28 Confederation and Route 68 Terry Fox will be moving platforms within the City Centre Transit Terminal. Route 28 will shift from Platform H (stop #0364) to Platform I (stop #0664), while Route 68 will move from Platform I to Platform A (stop #1406).

Schedule adjustments for improved reliability

To better align with evolving traffic and ridership patterns, schedule adjustments will be made to several routes, including 2 Hurontario, 6 Credit Woodlands, 17 Hurontario, 20 Rathburn, 22 Finch, 23 Lakeshore, and 49 McDowell. These changes are aimed at enhancing service reliability across the network. These service modifications are part of the broader MiWay 5 Transit Service Plan, striving to bolster connectivity within and outside the city, improve access to major employment zones and GO Stations, establish direct connections between key transit hubs, and expand service beyond traditional rush hours.
