UPDATE as of April 8
A number of City of Mississauga parks still remain closed due to flooding along the Credit River late last week. Please review the updated list here carefully to ensure you are avoiding the closed parks and staying safe:
More rain is on the way as Environment & Climate Change Canada is forecasting 5-15 mm of rain for Saturday, April 5 for parts of the Greater Toronto Area, including Mississauga, with the potential for higher amounts. The City is reminding the public to avoid parks adjacent to the Credit River and low-lying areas throughout the weekend and until further notice, as conditions remain a concern.
The following parks and trails will remain closed through the weekend:
Water levels in local waterways including creeks, rivers, ponds and lakes remain high, increasing the risk of additional flooding. Credit Valley Conservation has a flood outlook statement in effect. With the ground still somewhat frozen and highly saturated with water, additional rain will be difficult for the ground to absorb.
Heavy rainfall may result in flooding, fast-moving water, and slippery banks and shorelines. Stay a safe distance from all watercourses. Please keep a careful eye on pets and children and stay clear of these areas.
Drivers are reminded to slow down on roadways, maintain a safe distance, leave extra time for travel and drive according to weather conditions.
For any questions or concerns about flooding, please contact 311.
