Opening Ceremonies Marks the Official Kick-off to the 2016 Ontario Summer Games in Mississauga

On August 11, media are invited to attend the Opening Ceremonies for the official kick-off to the Mississauga 2016 Ontario Summer Games (OSG), the largest multi-sport event in Games history. The Opening Ceremonies marks the start of four days of friendly, athletic competition in 34 different sports for more than 3,500 athletes, ages 12 to 18 from across Ontario.

The Opening Ceremonies will ignite the celebration of sport, culture and recreation, showcasing Mississauga’s civic pride and community spirit. Toronto Raptors announcer, Mark “Strizzzy” Strong, will co-host the event with Dan James, content creator and founder of The Danocracy channel on YouTube.

Mississauga 2016 Ontario Summer Games

The City of Mississauga is the official host for the 2016 Ontario Summer Games, taking place August 11 to 14, 2016. The Mississauga 2016 Ontario Summer Games are the largest multi-sport event in Games history. More than 3,500 athletes from across the province will arrive in Mississauga to compete in individual and team events. More than 500 coaches and managers, 700 officials and sports fans will also be attending the Games.

The majority of the Games will be held at 16 Mississauga venues and neighbouring municipalities: Brampton, Caledon, Etobicoke, Innisfil and Welland.
