Paws for a cause: Mississauga’s Dog Only Swim brings residents together

It was a fun weekend for dogs across Mississauga!

Entertainment and activities | September 10, 2024

Mississauga invited our fluffiest friends to enjoy an end-of-summer swim last weekend at our fourth annual Dogs Only Swim event, with donations going to Mississauga Animal Services.

More than 90 dogs showed up to make a splash at the Lion’s Club of Credit Valley Outdoor Pool and Applewood Heights Outdoor Pool.

Since the launch of Mississauga’s Dog Swim in 2019, this event has brought the community together annually for a good cause. This year’s event was fully booked within a few days of opening and helped raised funds for Mississauga Animal Services (SCARF).

Donations make a positive impact by:

  • Providing shelter items and medications
  • Providing extra veterinary care and specialized surgeries
  • Supporting spay and neuter of adoption animals
  • Providing funding to the animal foster care program for specialized diets and care
  • Funding animal housing improvements

Note: Donations were not required but encouraged.

To help keep all animals and residents safe, all dogs were vaccinated, as outlined in the Dog Swim Pool Rules by the City of Mississauga. Two Animal Services Officers were also on-site checking dog tags as well as ensuring that there are no issues amongst participating canines.
