Heavy rain continues in Mississauga, remember to take caution and stay safe.

Dangerous road conditions and closures

The following road has been closed due to unsafe road conditions. Please avoid the following areas:

  • Matheson Blvd. E. from Rose Cherry Pl. to Timberlea Blvd.

Parks and trail closures

Residents are asked to take precautions in flooded areas and respect all posted signs and barricades that have been put up for safety reasons. Residents are asked to use caution in all parks and trails, creeks, rivers or watersheds.

Sports fields

All City sports fields remained closed until Monday, August 19. Parks staff are out assessing the damage from the recent rain and will reopen fields when they are safe to play on again.

Safety measures

Remember to monitor Environment Canada for weather warnings and watches in Mississauga. Avoid dialling 911 unless you’re in immediate danger or require assistance with rescue or evacuation.

Exercise caution

  • Avoid stormwater ponds, culverts, streams and rivers
  • Do not open sewer grates
  • Never travel through flooding or areas where there is ponding
  • Be sure that roof water drains
  • Ensure eavestroughs and downspouts are clear
  • Keep storm drains free of litter and debris
  • Use caution when travelling in areas where flooding has or could occur
  • If you are driving, travel to conditions, leave extra space for stopping, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop
  • If walking or cycling, use designated crosswalks or crossrides, do not enter flooded areas
  • Report power outages to Alectra

Report unsafe conditions by calling 311

  • Report safety hazards, such as fallen trees or weather-related issues, such as drainage or flooding, to 311
  • Call 311 if your property was impacted by the rain event that occurred over the weekend to provide your name and address. The data collected aims to help the Government of Ontario decide on the activation of their Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program
  • 311 may receive many weather-related calls, which may result in longer wait times than usual – we appreciate your patience as we process these calls
  • Report power outages or electrical hazards to Alectra. If you are experiencing a power outage, here are a few tips to follow

If your home or basement has flooded

  • Remember to be careful
  • Don’t attempt to shut off electricity if any water is present
  • If water rose above your electrical outlets, baseboard or furnace, call Alectra immediately at 1-833-253-2872 to report it
  • If you live in a condo or apartment, please contact property management if you are currently displaced from your home
