John Kovac represents Ward 4, a geographical area that is made up of nearly 80,000 residents and comprises Mississauga’s downtown core. He has served on City and Regional Council since 2015 and was the past Chair of the City’s Arts, Culture & Heritage Ad-Hoc Committee and Vice-Chair of the City’s Public Vehicle Advisory Committee. He is currently a member of several City boards and committees including Planning & Development Committee, Budget Committee, Transit Advisory Committee, Road Safety Committee, Traffic Safety Council, and the Mississauga Library Board.

Born and raised in Mississauga, John grew-up in the Rathwood district which stretches through Wards 3 and 4. He has an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in History and English Literature from the University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College. Prior to serving as the representative of Ward 4, John worked for a local-area Member of Parliament and had also served as a political aide to a Member of Provincial Parliament and Cabinet Minister.

Recognizing the unique potential Mississauga has as Canada’s seventh-largest city, John remains excited by the task of helping oversee the City’s, and especially its downtown’s, transition to a high-growth, safe and commuter-friendly, transit-oriented destination. John lives in Ward 4 and remains committed to working with the residents he serves as their elected City and Regional Councillor.
