It’s the official kick-off to the winter season, featuring the lighting of the Christmas Tree, live entertainment, ice skating, food trucks, and so much more!

Enjoy a magical evening filled with dazzling lights and spectacular entertainment!

• Hosted by Deepa Prashad, Members of Council invite you to join us for the official lighting of the Christmas tree
• Enjoy live music and request your favourite songs from Celebration Square’s very own LIVE jukebox with music by the JukeBells ft. uRequest Live. Don’t miss the unforgettable sounds of Big Smoke Brass Band.
• Experience the immersive light installation, Passage!
• Snap a photo with Santa at the Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan.
• Lace up your skates as we open the ice rink for the first time this season. DJ Roshanie will be spinning live all night long!
• Explore four glowing public art installations throughout the Square

  • Sugar Mountain by Weppler and Mahovsky
  • The Guest’s Shadow by Weppler and Mahovsky (one night only)
    • Sign up for a free lantern making workshop, inspired by a Light Up the Square installation The Guest’s Shadow. Sessions are held at the Great Hall on November 19 and November 26, led by artists Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky. Learn more.

Take a walk through Passage!

This large interactive art installation made up of 20 circles of light that form a tunnel. The passage through the tunnel activates light animations and sounds. Each configuration has its own ambiance.

• 6:00p.m. - Live Music by the JukeBells ft. uRequest Live
• 7:00 p.m. - Official Ceremony and lighting of the Christmas tree with Council and special guests
• 7:20 p.m. - Live Music by Big Smoke Brass
• 8:00 p.m. - Live Music by the JukeBells ft. uRequest Live (encore performance)

An accessible viewing area will be provided onsite, located on the east side directly in front of the stage. Please enter the site from the east or west gate (City Centre Dr. and Living Arts Dr. or City Centre Dr. and Duke of York).
