Community Invasive Species Control: Groundcovers

Join Mississauga’s Forestry team in removing groundcovers, non-native invasive plants, from Cawthra Park.

A variety of groundcover plants

The event will begin with a brief overview of the history and ecology of the natural area you will be helping to protect. You will also learn about the impacts of invasive species, how to identify and manage them, and Mississauga's Invasive Species Management Plan.

Guidelines for participants:

  • All supplies required for the work will be provided by the City of Mississauga.
  • This activity is best suited to ages 10 and above, and walking up to 20 minutes will be required.
  • Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen and hat, and wear long pants and closed-toed shoes (you cannot participate if you do not have closed-toed shoes).
  • Staff on site can sign off volunteer hours for youth under 18 years old.
