Mayor's New Year's Levee

Important notice: In response to the current escalation of COVID-19 cases and the rapid growth of the Omicron variant, the City of Mississauga is committed to putting the health and safety of our residents first. As such, we will continue to monitor the situation and will follow the lead of the provincial government and public health officials, adhering to the guidelines they set in place. This includes recommendations for outdoor gatherings like those planned for the Mayor’s New Year’s Levee, scheduled to take place on Mississauga Celebration Square in the coming weeks. Check the City’s social media sites and event calendar often for up-to-date information.

Schedule of Events

  • 1 p.m. - Official ceremony
  • 1 to 3 p.m. - Skating, treats, family-fun activities and DJ skate party
  • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. - Meet and Greet with dignitaries and special guests and photos with Mayor Crombie

While supplies last, complimentary treats will be available on the Upper Square and food trucks will be available for guests to purchase snacks throughout the day. Depending on the weather, the city’s largest outdoor skating rink will be open all day long. 

Meet and Greet Details 

Event attendees are welcome to make their way through the Levee meet and greet area. All are welcome to take one individual picture or one group picture with Mayor Crombie. 

To keep all guests safe, the following guidelines will be in place:

  • Selfies will not be permitted as physical distancing between Mayor Crombie and event guests will be enforced
  • A professional photographer will be onsite to take pictures of all attendees; event staff will not take pictures with guest’s phones
  • All professional pictures will be available for free download shortly after the event
  • Guests are to wear their masks while making their way through the meet and greet area
  • Masks can be removed temporarily while photos with the Mayor are taken, ensuring physical distance
  • Meet and Greet activities will end promptly at 2:30 p.m.
