Remembrance Day is an opportunity to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy as Canadians.

Additional Remembrance Day Activities

  • Museums of Mississauga and Mississauga Library
    On November 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., join Museums of Mississauga and Mississauga Library for an interactive conversation exploring stories, photographs and artifacts in Remembering Our Heroes: The Lives of Black Canadian Soldiers.
    Registration can be accessed through Eventbrite and Active Mississauga.
    Museums will also have an exhibit at the Benares Visitor Centre throughout November featuring stories of the residents of Benares during WWI. Museums is also partnering with the Orlinski Museum and Heritage Mississauga on a banner exhibit which features stories of Polish Canadians and their contributions during WWI and WWII. The exhibit will be on display for the entire month at the Orlinski Museum and Heritage Mississauga.

Remembrance Day Events in Mississauga

  • Royal Canadian Legion – Branch #82
    The procession will form in front of Legion Branch #82 at 35 Front Street at 9:15 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., the procession will march to St Andrews Presbyterian Church on Stavebank Rd. for a church service. After the service, the procession will form again on Stavebank Rd. at the Cenotaph/Vimy Park just prior to 11 a.m. A short service will begin just before 11 a.m. and will include: recognition of war veterans; the Last Post (recording), The Lament (LIVE performance); the Reveille (recording), O Canada (recording), God Save the King (recording) and laying of the wreaths. At approximately 11:30 a.m., the procession is planned to return to Branch #82, proceeding south on Stavebank Rd., west on Lakeshore Rd., over the bridge and north on Front St. back to the Legion Hall.
  • Royal Canadian Legion – Branch #101
    The ceremony will take place at 3850 Lakeshore Blvd. W. at 10:45 a.m. A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the local Cenotaph. Refreshments and entertainment will be available at the Legion.
  • Royal Canadian Legion Branch  #139
    The parade begins at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 (101 Church St.) and travels up to the Cenotaph in the Village Square where a Remembrance Day ceremony will be held and conducted by the Streetsville Legion. Includes wreath laying and moment of silence.
  • Royal Canadian Legion – Branch #582
    A ceremony will take place at the Cenotaph, located in St. John’s, Dixie Cemetery, 719 Dundas St. E, Mississauga. The service will begin at 10:30am.
