The New Youth Council

Abstract graphic for the New Youth Council

The New Youth Council welcomes all Mississauga youth between the ages of 14 and 21 to join our weekly meetings and support youth-driven creative projects with the Museums of Mississauga. Youth will have opportunities to:

  • Get behind the scenes access to their community museum
  • Learn about local history and how to handle historic artifacts
  • Support special events at the Museums and Small Arms Inspection Building
  • Support youth-driven creative projects such as the Online Art Showcase for National Youth Week
  • Help out with community service projects such as donation drives for homeless youth
  • Go on field trips

As part of this experience, youth will receive mentorship from museum professionals and develop leadership skills. This is an amazing opportunity for anyone considering a career in the arts, culture or heritage fields and a great way to make new friends and build your network!

Meetings are held every Thursday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, the first week in October to the first week in June. All TNYC meetings can be accessed virtually, but we will contact members when a physically distanced in-person meeting at the Small Arms Inspection Building is scheduled.

For information on how you can join TNYC, please email us at museums@mississauga.ca. All are welcome!
