Fare Discount Programs for Children and Seniors Extended

To support affordability and enhance transit accessibility, MiWay is extending the pilot program that offers free fares for children ages 6 to 12, and the one-dollar per-trip fare available all day for seniors 65 and over, until Dec. 31, 2024.

Here’s how the discount programs work:

Seniors 65+

  • Seniors can pay a $1 fare with exact cash, or a PRESTO card set to pay the Senior fare type.

Children ages 6 to 12

  • Kids ages 6 to 12 can ride free on MiWay with a PRESTO card set to pay the Child fare type.
  • Children ages 5 and under can also ride free on MiWay when they are accompanied by a fare paying customer.

To set the fare type on a PRESTO card, please visit a Customer Service Outlet and show proof of age. PRESTO cards that aren’t set to a specific fare type will be charged the Adult PRESTO single fare.
