Academic partnerships

The City has signed separate agreements with local academic institutions, University of Toronto Mississauga and Sheridan College, to partner in areas where we have a shared benefit or shared goals.
The purpose of the agreements is to work together to improve the lives of residents and businesses in Mississauga, and for the continued success of students at these post-secondary institutions.

Benefits of these partnerships

With these partnerships the City will be:

  • Bridging the gap between municipal needs and academic research
  • Using world-class expertise to continue building a world-class city
  • Promoting innovation, job creation and economic growth
  • Offering experiential learning opportunities for students attending these schools
  • Deepening our shared commitment toward equity, truth and reconciliation

We’ve already collaborated with both institutions in unique ways, such as modifying course material to be more city-focused, or creating research opportunities to advance City priorities.
