In progress City project

Anaka Park improvements

The City of Mississauga and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board are improving Anaka Park with new amenities.

Overview

Anaka Park is located at 7666 Anaka Drive, next to the Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Secondary School. The City has an opportunity to work with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board on improvements to the park, benefiting both the community and the school. The Ministry of Education approved up to $2 million in funding for this project.

Proposed park improvements

  • Replace the existing soccer field with a lit multi-use facility, available to use by park visitors when not in use by the school or other organized games, featuring:
    • A multi-use artificial turf field
    • A four-lane running track
    • A long jump and triple jump facility
    • Spectator bleachers
  • Update the existing playground, with a new play structure, improved accessibility and a sandbox
  • Add a new outdoor fitness facility
  • Add extra seating areas
  • Improve pathway connections
  • Plant new trees to provide a visual screen to neighbouring homes

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2025.

Public engagement

An open house was held on March 6, 2024, for the public to learn about the project, speak with the project team, provide feedback and ask questions about the proposed park improvements. The City shared additional details about the project through open house panels.

The local community received a postcard about the proposed park improvements, information on how to provide feedback, and an invitation to the open house.
