In progress City project

Building the Dundas Bus Rapid Transit

Downtown Cooksville

The City is moving forward with a plan to prioritize moving people on rapid transit through Downtown Cooksville.

The Dundas BRT Mississauga East Project will generally include dedicated median bus lanes with transit stops, two general public lanes in direction, turning lanes and an enhanced boulevard with grade-separated cycle tracks and sidewalks. The lanes, tracks and sidewalks in Downtown Cooksville between Kirwin Avenue/Camilla Road and Confederation Parkway will be constrained due to property limitations.

The City is moving forward with an interim design to address the congestion currently experienced in Downtown Cooksville and to provide a direct connection to Hazel McCallion Line. The interim design includes the following:

  • Dedicated median bus lanes with transit stops
  • One general-purpose lane with each direction with turn restrictions
  • An enhanced boulevard with cycle tracks and sidewalks
  • Tree corridors will be provided at locations with sufficient space

This project includes top recommendations and principles collected and established through several years of consultation with Mississauga residents and businesses through Dundas Connects and Vision Cooksville.
