Implementation strategy phases
Several improvements were identified for Creditview Road, which will improve traffic flow in the area for current and future demands.
The approved Creditview Road Environmental Assessment Study recommended a phased implementation. Implementation included an interim preferred alternative and a long-term solution.
The City evaluated traffic counts along Creditview Road in spring 2024. The analysis determined that existing mid-block volumes, as well as intersection operations at Bancroft Drive/Sir Monty’s Drive and Kenninghall Boulevard/Crescent, are approaching or exceeding capacity.
Based on completed analysis, early implementation of the long-term solution is recommended, as it will:
- Accommodate both 2031 and 2041 travel demands
- Reduce construction costs by approximately $4.5 million
- Minimize the impact of construction activities on the community
Interim preferred alternative
The interim alternative includes the following elements:
- 2 lanes between Bancroft Road and Argentia Road
- Signalized intersection improvements at Creditview Road intersection with Old Creditview Road
- 1-lane roundabouts at Creditview Road intersections with Falconer Drive and Kenninghall Boulevard
- 2-lane roundabout at Argentia Road
Long-term solution
The long-term solution includes the following key elements:
- Widening to 4 lanes from Bancroft Drive to Argentia Road
- 2-lane roundabouts at Kenninghall Boulevard/Crescent and Falconer Drive
Background
The completed 2016 Environmental Assessment Study was conducted in line with the planning and design process for ‘Schedule C’ projects. This process is outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment,” (October 2000, as amended in 2011), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Class EA process includes:
- Consultation with the public and external agencies
- Evaluation of alternative solutions and alternative design concepts
- Assessment of potential impacts associated with the proposed improvements
- Development of measures to mitigate identified impacts
