Courtneypark Drive East Environmental Assessment Class Study

The City started a Class Environmental Assessment Study, including Preliminary Design, for the section of Courtneypark Drive East, from Kennedy Road to Dixie Road.

The study is being undertaken in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule ‘C’ projects, as outlined in the “Municipal Class Environmental Assessment” document (October 2000, amended in 2011), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

The Class EA process includes public and agency consultation, an evaluation of alternative solutions and alternative design concepts, an assessment of potential impacts associated with the proposed improvements, and development of measures to mitigate.

The alternative solutions may include (but are not limited to) the potential widening of Courtneypark Drive East, the examination of the transportation benefits of a full movement interchange at Highway 410 (per the MTO’s approved 2010 TESR), as well as various improvements to traffic operations, transit, and/or active transportation.

Upon completion of the study, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared and made available for public review and comment.
