Partners in Homebuilding: Mayor’s Housing Task Force Report

The task force report will guide future housing efforts in Mississauga.

In 2024, Mayor Parrish created the Mayor’s Housing Task Force to tackle the growing housing crisis in Mississauga. The task force’s goal was to find ways to make it easier to build more homes by bringing together government and the development industry.

Over the course of 4 months, the task force worked to discuss barriers, find solutions to the housing supply and affordability crisis in Mississauga and assembled Partners in Homebuilding—a report outlining a series of recommendations.

The report outlines 4 key priorities and 30 actions to address the housing crisis.

“Tackling the housing crisis is my top priority.

Too many young people are being forced to leave the city and food insecurity is at an all-time high. I want to thank my housing task force for their time, expertise and advice. I asked for concrete solutions that could help address the crisis and they delivered. It’s clear we can no longer afford to wait. There was a 95% drop in new high-rise sales in this City last year. We must do what we can right now to help get shovels in the ground – our residents deserve nothing less.”

Carolyn Parrish, Mayor of Mississauga
