If you operate an airport transportation vehicle, you require a valid licence issued by the City. You can apply as a driver or an owner.

Apply in person

You can schedule an appointment to apply for or renew your licence in person using our online reservation system.

  1. Complete the Driver Licence Application to apply for a new licence or the Licence Renewal Application to renew an existing licence.
  2. Gather the required documents and approvals.
  3. Book an appointment online for a new licence or a licence renewal.
  4. Bring your application and supporting documents to your appointment.
  5. Pay the licence fees and your licence will be issued.

Licence requirements

You must be 18 years of age or older to apply. In addition to a completed application, you must provide the following documents and approvals:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
  • Ontario driver’s record completed in the last 30 days
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days
  • Driver approval form from APTV or AMTV owner/company
  • Proof that you meet Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) requirements, including a written exam
  • Valid airport driver’s card from the GTAA
  • A photo of you, taken by us if you apply in person or uploaded by you if you apply online. Photos must:
    • Be clear, sharp and in focus with no shadows or glare
    • Have your face and shoulders centred in the photo, looking at the camera with a neutral expression

Renewal requirements

Your licence will expire every year on your birthday. A renewal notice will be sent to the email address on file. If no email is available, it will be sent to the mailing address on record.

To renew your licence, you must submit the following documents:

  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
  • Ontario driver’s record (provided by the Mobile Licensing Office and included in your renewal fee)
  • Valid airport driver’s card from the GTAA
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days

If you don’t renew your licence within a year of the expiry date, you’ll have to reapply as a new applicant.


Licence fees

A new APTV driver’s licence costs $206.35.

A new AMTV driver’s licence costs $191.49.

The annual fee to renew your APTV or AMTV licence is $186.98.

Fees are payable by cheque, debit or credit card.

Only companies approved by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) may apply for an airport public transportation vehicle (APTV) owner’s licence.

To apply, you’ll need to submit:

  • An Owner Licence Application completed by the business owner, partner, president or an authorized agent
  • A GTAA airport permit in good standing
  • Articles of incorporation and/or business registration documents
  • Provincial permit for the vehicle
  • Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage and endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • Lease agreement (if vehicle is leased)
  • A copy of the motor vehicle liability insurance card and either:
    • A Ministry of Transportation Vehicle Inspection report that shows vehicle has been accepted within 60 days
    • A safety standard certificate issued within 60 days

Your vehicle must be inspected at the Mobile Licensing Office before your licence can be issued.


Renewing your owner’s licence

Your licence will expire every year on March 31. A renewal notice will be mailed to the address we have on file for you.

To renew your licence, you’ll need to submit the following documents and pay your renewal fee:

  • A Licence Renewal Application completed by the owner or director
  • Certificate of insurance endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • Valid master business name registration, if applicable
  • A GTAA airport permit in good standing

If you don’t renew your licence within a year of the expiry date, you’ll have to reapply as a new applicant.


Licence fees

A new APTV or AMTV owner’s licence costs $395.72.

The fee to renew an APTV licence is $360.44.

The fee to renew an AMTV licence is $350.63.
