Limousines

There are 3 classes of limousines that operate in the city:

  • Limousine Class A, a limousine with a seating capacity of no less than 5 passengers, including the driver
  • Limousine Class B, a limousine with a seating capacity of no less than 5 passengers and no more than 8 passengers including the driver
  • Special Occasion Limousine, any Limousine Class A or Limousine Class B that operates on a per day basis by permit or licence

Apply in person

You can schedule an appointment to apply for or renew your licence in person using our online reservation system.

  1. Complete the Driver/Operator Licence Application to apply for a new licence or the Licence Renewal Application to renew an existing licence.
  2. Gather the required documents and approvals.
  3. Book an appointment online for a new licence or a licence renewal.
  4. Bring your application and supporting documents to your appointment.
  5. Pay the licence fees and your licence will be issued.

To renew your licence by mail, send a completed Licence Renewal Application, your supporting documents and a cheque payable to the City of Mississauga to:

Licence requirements

You must be 18 years of age or older to apply. In addition to a completed application, you must provide the following documents and approvals:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or a valid work permit
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
  • Ontario driver’s record completed in the last 30 days
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days
  • Name of the limousine brokerage you’re working for
  • A photo of you, taken by us if you apply in person or uploaded by you if you apply online. Photos must:
    • Be clear, sharp and in focus with no shadows or glare
    • Have your face and shoulders centred in the photo, looking at the camera with a neutral expression

Renewal requirements

Your licence will expire every year on your birthday. If you don’t renew your licence within a year of the expiry date, you’ll have to reapply as a new applicant.

A renewal notice will be sent to the email address on file. If no email is available, it will be sent to the mailing address on record.

To renew your licence, you must submit the following documents:

  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence (Class G minimum)
  • Ontario driver’s record (provided by the Mobile Licensing Office and included in your renewal fee)
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days

Licence fees

A new limousine driver’s licence costs $212.54.

The annual fee to renew your licence is $192.59.

Fees are payable by cheque, debit or credit card.

To apply for a Class A or Class B limousine owner’s licence, you’ll need to submit:

  • Owner Licence Application completed by the business owner, partner, president or an authorized agent
  • Business name registration, articles of incorporation or corporate profile report, if applying as a company
  • Proof that the location of your limousine business complies with the Zoning By‑law, such as a Zoning Certificate of Occupancy
  • Schedule of hourly fare rates
  • Motor vehicle permit from the Ministry of Transportation
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days
  • Lease agreement, if your vehicle is leased
  • Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • Motor vehicle liability insurance card and one of the following:
    • Ministry of Transportation vehicle inspection report that shows your vehicle has been accepted within 60 days
    • Safety standards certificate issued within 60 days
    • City of Toronto vehicle inspection report/livery cab fitness report issued within 60 days

Your vehicle must be inspected at the Mobile Licensing Office before your licence can be issued.


Renewing your owner’s licence

Your licence will expire annually on September 30. A renewal notice will be mailed to the address we have on file for you.

To renew your licence, you’ll need to submit the following documents and pay your renewal fee:

  • Licence Renewal Application
  • Valid master business name registration, if applicable
  • Valid Zoning Certificate of Occupancy must be on file
  • Criminal record check by a Canadian police service issued in the last 60 days
  • Proof of vehicle ownership
  • Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage and endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • Safety standards certificate or City of Toronto vehicle inspection report/livery cab fitness report issued within 60 days

Licence fees

A new Class A or Class B licence costs $527.51.

The fee to renew your licence is $446.11.

Fees are payable by cheque, debit or credit card.

Limousine operators who are not licensed in the City of Mississauga but want to operate in Mississauga on a specific day need to apply for a special occasion limousine licence.

To apply for a special occasion limousine licence, you’ll need to submit:

  • An Owner Licence Application completed by the business owner, partner, president or an authorized agent
  • Municipal limousine owner’s licence from another municipality, or a copy of the provincial vehicle permit
  • Business name registration, articles of incorporation or corporate profile report, if applying as a company
  • Certificate of insurance with a minimum $2 million coverage endorsed to the City of Mississauga
  • A copy of the motor vehicle liability insurance card and one of the following:
    • Ministry of Transportation vehicle inspection report that shows vehicle has been accepted within 60 days
    • Safety standards certificate issued within 60 days
    • City of Toronto vehicle inspection report/livery cab fitness report issued within 60 days
  • A contract or itinerary outlining the type of occasions and the duration, dates and times of service for the limo

Licence fees

The fee for a special occasion limo licensed in another city is $41.80.

The fee for a special occasion limo not licensed in another municipality is $54.91.
