Tobacco sales business licences

You must have a tobacco sales business licence to sell tobacco products, such as cigarettes, pipe tobacco or cigars, in the City of Mississauga. Apply online, in person or by mail.

Licence requirements

You must be 18 years of age or older to apply. You also must provide the following documents and approvals:

  • Business name registration, articles of incorporation or corporate profile report
  • Government-issued ID, driver’s licence or Canadian passport
  • Zoning Certificate of Occupancy that allows the sale of tobacco products
  • Letter of authorization signed by the director, owner or business partner

Licence fees

A new licence costs $348.03.

A licence renewal costs $252.15.

No HST is charged on business licence fees.

How to apply

Apply online

You can apply for a new licence online. Choose the link according to how your business is registered:

To renew your licence, update your information or check your application status, log in to your account and manage your licence.

Apply in person

You can book an appointment to apply or renew your licence in person using our online reservation system.

  1. Complete the Business Licence Application and gather the required documents and approvals.
  2. Book an appointment online for a new licence or a licence renewal.
  3. Bring your application and supporting documents to your appointment. The Compliance and Licensing Enforcement office is on the ground floor at 3235 Mavis Road.
  4. Pay the licence fees.

Licences may not be issued on the same day, if more information is needed.

Apply by mail

Mail your completed Business Licence Application, the supporting documents and a cheque payable to the City of Mississauga in the amount of the licence fee to:
