Determine if an onsite investigation by an enforcement officer is required to proceed with the case.
If you break Noise Control By-law regulations, you may be subject to a fine of up to $100,000.
Noise types you can report to the City
The City’s Noise Control By‑law prohibits noise that causes a disturbance to residents in their homes. We respond to reports about the following noise types heard outside their permitted times.
Commercial construction noise
Unless an exemption has been granted, noise from commercial construction work is permitted Monday to Saturday (except on statutory holidays) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Recreational and event noise
Yelling and shouting from parties, children playing, sports, and events is permitted:
Monday to Saturday: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sundays and statutory holidays: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Residential noise
The following residential noises are permitted from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week:
Music or audio from radios, speakers, television and stereos
Sound of powered or non-powered tools for domestic maintenance, such as lawn mowers and grass trimmers
Sound of animals and pets barking, whining or calling

If noise is caused by domestic disputes, yelling or moving vehicles, call Peel Regional Police to report it:

If the noise is caused by train whistling, call the following:
