By-law violation tickets are penalty notices issued for City by-law violations involving animals, pets and business licensing, including mobile businesses. They have a ticket number beginning with a letter A, B or V.

You can dispute a by-law violation ticket online or in person with a screening officer. You have 15 days from the date you received your ticket to dispute it online or to request an in-person dispute.

When submitting a new dispute, tell us:
You can attach evidence, like a photo, to support your dispute. This is the only opportunity you will have to submit evidence.
You can include up to 5 separate files. Each file must be smaller than 5 MB. Accepted file formats are PDF, PNG, GIF and JPG or JPEG. Word documents and video files won’t be accepted.
You need an appointment to dispute your ticket in person.

If you can’t make your scheduled day and time, you must change your in-person dispute appointment.
You can request an extension review if you missed the 15-day dispute window because of special circumstances. Extension review requests must be made in person at 950 Burnhamthorpe Road West within 30 days of the ticket due date.
If your request is approved, a screening officer will meet with you the same day. Decisions made at an extension review are final.
If you’re not satisfied with the decision at your in‑person dispute, you may request an appointment with a hearing officer. You have 15 days from the date of your in‑person dispute decision to make this request. The hearing officer’s decision is final.
