Bicycle parking

Bicycle parking is an important part of a successful cycling network and bicycle-friendly city. Dedicated bicycle parking spaces, facilities and infrastructure help improve safety for cyclists of all ages and abilities.

Through the Bike Parking Program, the City offers safe, secure and accessible bicycle parking.

Types of bicycle parking

The City provides various types of bicycle parking, including bike racks and corrals.

Short-term bicycle parking, such as bike racks and ‘post and rings’, are available along some sidewalks in:

  • Port Credit
  • Clarkson
  • Downtown area

Bike racks can also be found at many community centres, recreational facilities and transit locations, including MiWay and GO Transit stations.

Long-term bicycle parking is available at all GO Transit stations in Mississauga. Keep your bike secure and sheltered while you take public transit.

The City offers Bike Valet for free at cycling events. This service let’s you keep your bike parked in a safe and convenient location. To learn more about Bike Valet and how to request this service for your next event, contact cycling@mississauga.ca.

Request a new or report damaged bike parking

Bicycle parking infrastructure are installed, repaired or replaced based on citywide priorities and funding allocation.

If you note damaged bicycle parking on public property, public right-of-way (along roads), parks or City-owned buildings, please report damaged bicycle parking.

If you think there is a need for new bicycle parking on public property, public right-of-way (along roads), parks or City-owned buildings, please request new bicycle parking.

Prevent bike theft

Take preventative measures to protect your bike and reduce the risk of bicycle theft when you leave it parked and unattended. Follow these recommendations and refer to our downloadable tip sheet for more advice.

  • Use a secure bike lock, such as a U-lock, when leaving your bicycle unattended.
  • Lock your bicycle to a solid object that’s connected to the ground and can’t be moved.
  • Register your bike online with Peel Police to improve the chances of having your bicycle returned if lost or stolen.
