Thinking of Becoming a Citizen Member for a Council Committee? Attend an Information Session to Learn More

UPDATED:::The original date for the information session has changed from Thursday, February 23 to Wednesday, March 1 due to inclement weather.

The City of Mississauga is accepting applications for citizen members to serve on several advisory committees of Council, for a four-year term.

Interested individuals are welcome to attend an in-person information session about citizen member positions on Wednesday, March 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be an opportunity to speak with City staff to learn more about positions, the committees and what role citizen members play.

Information session for residents interested in becoming a citizen member for advisory committees of Council.

Who:
Mississauga residents or business owners, who are:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • older than 18 years of age
  • not employed by the City of Mississauga or the Region of Peel

When:
Wednesday, March 1, 2023
6 to 7:30 p.m.

Where:
Mississauga City Hall – Great Hall – main floor
300 City Centre Dr.
Mississauga, ON

Cost:
Free

Citizen members help make recommendations related to specific City topics and areas of interest.

Citizen member positions are open for the following advisory committees:

  • Combating Racism, Discrimination and Hatred Advisory Committee – [New committee]
  • Environmental Action Committee
  • Governance Committee
  • Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee
  • Mississauga Student Traffic Safety Action Committee (formerly Traffic Safety Council)
  • Port Credit Heritage Conservation District Subcommittee
  • Road Safety Committee
  • Towing Industry Advisory Committee
  • Transit Advisory Committee – [New committee]

Applications are being accepted from Thursday, February 16, 2023, until Thursday, March 9, 2023.
